Harmony in Architectural Science and Design: Sustaining the Future

Who needs an Australian visa?

Australia maintains a universal visa regime, meaning that every non-citizen in Australia must have a visa, either as a result of an application, or one granted automatically by law.

Visitors holding passports from certain countries may apply for a visa using a truncated process:

nationals of 36 countries may apply  for  eVisitor visa  – Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) eligible countries,

citizens of New Zealand, using a New Zealand passport may apply for a Special Category Visa (subclass 444) on arrival pursuant to the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement

nationals from 34 countries and territories may apply for Electronic Travel Authority (subclass 601)

Information on different visa types and for which one might apply, as well as the waiting time for visa issuance can be found here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder.

Instructions for visa procedure

Participants must have an accepted ASA 2024 Conference paper to receive an invitation letter for visa applications. The invitation letter can be downloaded from the submission portal once the full paper has been accepted.

To prepare for their visa application, applicants should include their travel itinerary (booking only; no need to confirm the ticket yet) as one of the supporting documents. To receive a visa, all participants must meet certain health and character requirements.

To avoid delays in visa applications, applicants should include as much detail as possible to submit a decision-ready application. This includes evidence of incentive to return home and access to sufficient funds.
